In turbulent times there will always be room for opportunity, one thing that is for sure is that it is the businesses leaders who stay focused in difficult times come out on top. Below are a few tips for building a solid inbound marketing strategy to keep your business on a steady road to growth.

1. Personas

Possibly the most important of the points on this list. Setting up personas is something that many business owners skip over, unaware of how little they really know about their customers. In reality businesses will suffer without a clearly defined set of personas, for CMOs this is often the first step in a new role. Check out this blog post on building out your buyer personas for ideas on getting started.

2. SEO

A very powerful tool and still very relevant. There is no need to go out of your way but there are small things you can do very quickly to help drive traffic to your site. It is a good idea to ensure that everyone in your business knows the basics of SEO and that all new content is at least partly optimised.

3. Social media

Roughly 1 in 3 people on the planet are active users of social media in one form or another. At this point it is not something that businesses can afford to skip and again there are plenty of small, time inexpensive things you can do. Tools such as Buffer or even the HubSpot application itself allow scheduling and tracking of your social media efforts and are well worth the time investment. Investment in image sharing platforms such as Instagram can also be a very worthwhile activity, here's why.

4. GDD

Growth Driven Design (GDD), although relatively new to the digital marketing scene is an extremely important part of growth in an age where a business’ website is commonly its single most important marketing and sales tool. If you are a business owner or marketing manager reading this, think about how often you upgrade this tool. Every year? Every two years perhaps? GDD focuses on taking an iterative approach designed to keep your website performing at its best all year round.

5. Consistency

What ever path you take towards growing your business one requirement will remain constant. Consistency is the backbone of any strategy that is likely to encourage repeatable growth. “Good things come to those who wait”.
