A few days ago Twitter re-categorized itself as a news app. It's a 24/7, faced paced channel, perfect for news style items. Twitter is no longer about social networking, and hasn't really been for quite some time.
But then which social networks are still about social networking? The limelight is much more on social media than social networking.
The difference is the type of content. Social networking is personal, whilst social media is professional content.
That's not to say personal content has stopped altogether, it's just not as attention grabbing, making it much more difficult to get any engagement.
It might be time for Social Networking to retire...
Confusion about the difference between social networking and social media is why most people haven't noticed the decline of social networking. People don't stop to think about the difference. The sharing of social media -- professionally produced videos, articles, podcasts and photos -- is gradually replacing the sharing of personal content about one's life.
